Mami celebrated her birthday with old friends, new memories, and good times.
Thanks to the Masseys - Benjamin got his first dose of Guitar Hero! Papi rocked the house. It was a fun night by all.
Thanks to the Scoulios' for the cake and fajitas. We had a great time and Mami felt connected to her "pre-Mami" self, which is a good reprieve from "just" being Benjamin's parent. (And, Mami truly loves being Benjamin's mother)...
We took our monkey to one of our favorite local stores: Wabash Antiques and he played with big hand benches and giant jacks. He saw chickens, guinea pigs, puppies, and bunnies. This store is an old jewel in Houston and we enjoy patronizing it. It's a country nook tucked in between the big city life.
Benjamin went to his first art exhibit, the Red Bull Art of Can. He wasn't too impressed by the exhibits. He was more fascinated with the people in the Galleria. Even the big bull made of red bull cans didn't do anything for him.
Benjamin's latest personality tricks:
He likes to take off his diaper. He knows how that "thing" works.
And, yes, even though it has not been previously mentioned - Benjamin plays with his family jewels. Once that diaper comes off, he knows there is something down there.
He is tall enough to look on top of tables. He grabs everything with flagrant curiosity. So now Mami and Papi have to refrain from their messy ways because there really isn't room in our home for 3 messy people. Benjamin wins the title of the messiest person in the house.
Ben pulls open drawers and pull things out of them and throws them all over the floor. And, then has fun deciding which item to put in his mouth first. Sometimes, he shoves multiple items in his mouth to make things more exciting for all of us.
Benjamin's walking ability can be compared to that of a drunken sailor. Not quite balanced, but determined. With every stumble, he gets right back up to continue his walk.
Have we mentioned that we love our ball of energy? Till next week.
