Not sure where the extra "es" come from but he sure likes to add them to his words.

"You won't like this". Specifically, he says this when he is eating something he really enjoys like ice cream. He wants to make sure to tell us that we won't want to try what he is eating so he can have it all by himself.
Mufflers.
Um, yeah, Mufflers. Everywhere we go, we have to wait for the car/truck/taxi to drive off so we can see the vehicle's muffler. Our son has an extreme fascination with mufflers.
Tunnels.
He loves going through the tunnels carved into the "volcanoes". He likes how they get dark and he calls the darkness, "Halloween".
WORK:
We have reached that point in parenthood where we have to watch Benjamin's favorite toys. What we mean by "watch" is that we try to ensure that we aren't leaving them behind somewhere. Benjamin loves his stuffed animal (monkey) and he carries around a "car of the day". It can be quite the headache to keep track of Benjamin and now we have to do a double-check to make sure monkey or his favorite car is with us at all times.
And, speaking of work...this "boat" is one of many reasons we live in Brazil...
Double Trouble:
WEATHER:
Summer started in January and it's been a nice and warm..but the ocean helps cool things down at night. When summer hits Houston, it will be winter here which isn't much of a winter - it will be more like spring weather (Texas standards).
PLAY DATES:
We went to a wonderful play date with lots of moms, kids, and toys. It was nice to meet new people and deviate from our usual schedule.
We had a playdate at a mall and Benjamin was in truck heaven. (In case you are wondering - we arrived early before the other kids arrived)
RESTAURANTS:
We have eaten at some very tasty restaurants and we have found the decor is interesting as well. We could do a whole new blog on restaurants in Brazil because there is so much to say.
This restaurant had dried eucalyptus leaves on the floor...
FOOD:
Sometimes we find it hard to believe that our child is ours.
He has a love of cheese that will never end (this makes him our child).
However, he does not favor bread too much (not our child). Brazil has this wonderful cheese bread (pão de queijo) that he is really missing out on and it is a shame that he does not enjoy it.
On finding things American...
Now introducing "monkey" (our other "new" child) and well, we all know what that thing next to it is...
Yes, we found a Starbucks (a rarity here) and Benjamin ate his first blueberry muffin in two months.
Mami had a nice caffeine boost which tasted more like dessert because she couldn't figure out how to say "no whip".
Sight Seeing:
We did our first official touristy trip - Pão de Açúcar a/k/a Sugar Loaf.

The famous Christ the Redeemer Statute a/k/a Christo redemptor is under construction, hence the scaffolding.
Little B. is not so sure about shaking this man's hand.
Benjamin was so excited to be able to ride on a "volcano". Once we got on the mountain, he kept asking if we were going to get on the volcano. He loved riding the cable car and peering down at the beautiful scenery.
On Brazil:
The thing about Brazil, well, it's just pretty, in a lot of places...and well, this is one of those places...(This hotel was a very special treat)
We have mentioned that Brazil is wonderful when it comes to being child-friendly. Here is one fine example of just how friendly they are when it comes to little people:
A bathroom specifically designed for the little ones. He is washing his own hands because he can reach everything.
How cool is that?
2/3 of the G. family is coming home in a few days to visit family and friends. We will miss Papi dearly and are very glad he has this blog to view if he feels lonely, he can revisit what we have done and prepare for what we will do.
