Soccer, Tomatoes, and Museum Hodge Podge

Where did last week go? Our faithful blogger took a week off to soak in lots of Benjamin time. But, we are back to report on the little one's life.

Benjamin hung out with his buddy Charlotte last week. They had a blast at the new and improved Children's Museum and then polished the eventful morning with a hearty lunch (okay, with playground time) at Mission Burrito.

A giant "lite brite" (on a side note - Mami has decided that she wants one of these for her own bedroom):

Playing at the water table:

Pointing to one of his favorite foods (a "na nana"):

At the market - picking produce for his basket of goodies - it was as if he felt like time was running out because he was a super fast shopper:

Mission Burrito fun (We really like kid-friendly restaurants - it really does make a huge difference in the ability to have adult conversation and allow for the kiddo to have fun, too)

Things we learned about Benjamin these past two weeks:

We suspect he is allergic to peanut butter (he had a hive reaction to a sample);
He is the boss (but we have known that since the day he arrived);
The words, "no" and "mine" are slowing creeping into his vocabulary (inevitable);
He LOVES the outdoors even if it is a million degrees outside;
His favorite to-dos are: playing with his cars with Papi, gardening with Papi, picking tomatoes from the garden even if they are not quite ready, watching Mami cook while standing on a stool; making siren noises with his fire trucks, and sleeping with his truck books.

Picking a grape tomato - he likes to pick them but he doesn't like to eat them. Something we know/hope will change!

We learned that Kicks Indoor Soccer has a "Mommy and Me" hour on Fridays so Mami took the monkey to an open turf with lots of balls, balloons, nets, and tunnels to play on or around. Benjamin was post-peanut butter allergy incident so he wasn't in the best of spirits but he did enjoy himself initially. We are considering enrolling him a kid's soccer program (this seems to be the first and only sport that we have researched that accepts 2-year olds). If we are wrong, please feel free to correct us and let us know what more we can do to continue to feed our child's curiosity.

When he first arrived, he had the place practically to himself.

We walked to a nearby "Snoball" business that is new to our neighborhood.
We had high hopes of Benjamin wanting to sample the cold icy treat but he had no interest. Perhaps, seeing his buddy Truitt was a good enough distraction to forgo the experience!
These boys play so well together. When the heat continues to rise, perhaps Benjamin will change his mind and want to try one of these tasty treats.

We took Benjamin to his first musical - Aladdin. A friend of ours played Jafar and invited us to the show. We were nervous about taking our little guy because we were not sure how well an almost 2-year old would hold out for an hour play. He did great and was intrigued by the costumes, the singing, and the movement. We all had a great time and think the Lambert Hall venue is a wonderful "jewel" in the Heights.

Having fun in the seats - he couldn't sit still long enough to have a focused photo but the fuzziness details the fun he had!

Till next week!
