The "first" hunt was at one of our favorite stomping grounds: Proctor Park Plaza. A very powerful "co-host" of this egg hunt was the Heights Kids Group in which generous parents donated the eggs and candy to make this event happen.
Not only did Benjamin get to hunt eggs but he got to hang out with his adorable cousin Lillian.
There were lots of children hunting in appropriate age groups. Our little monkey was unaware as to what was going on as he was distracted by things that fascinate one-year olds like water fountains, drains, people, trash, trees, etc...
Papi helped Benjamin find the eggs that were blatantly out in the open. Once he figured out how to open the little plastic orbs - this opened up a whole new level of intrigue. Shiny foiled packages of candy. He liked to find the eggs, open them, dump the contents, and then move on to the next egg. After we finished the hunt, he popped the candy in his mouth and promptly spit it back out onto the ground or his hands. (Our "favorite" trick for him to do is hand us the gooey mess) He continued to do this over and over. Yes, our child does not favor chocolate or candy. However, he does have an affinity for gummy candies.

The 2nd egg hunt involved a visit from the Easter bunny in our backyard. (Apparently, the carrot cake Mami made lured the Easter bunny to our house) Benjamin was ready for the hunt this time. He knew the drill and knew exactly what to do with the eggs: crack them open and see the prize inside.
Benjamin's curiosity was satisfied with gummy candies, stickers, and balls. All, in all, Benjamin enjoyed the holiday.
As luck may have it, we saw a real bunny at Grandma and Grandpa Guerrero's house on Easter Sunday. Up for debate: Is this the same Easter bunny who visited our house?

So, we felt adventurous and did a Mothers for Clean Air 5k Walk. Adventurous for us is getting all of us out of the house before 8:00 a.m. with lots of gear in tow. Benjamin was a trooper and enjoyed the stroller ride all 3.2 miles. He loved the police cars with flashing lights and other distractions along the way. After the walk, which incidentally took place at Discovery Green Park, we enjoyed the Earth Day festival which also celebrated the one-year anniversary of the park. We had a picnic lunch, listened to a live band, were given free plants for our yard, Benjamin played games, and he had great reservations about the characters dressed in different costumes. It was a fun-filled day that was promptly followed up by a very long nap.
