Boots, Hermann Park, and International Festival

So, our son has fallen in love with his rain boots. He loves to put them on every day and wears them with pride. Yes, our little "baby"...okay, our little boy...puts on his own boots. He had a load of fun jumping in puddles after our recent and much needed monsoon rainfall.

Another fond discovery for little B. - frogs.

He was absolutely fascinated with this strange short-bodied jumping "thing". Chasing something that jumps created lots of squeals. It's hard to say which was more delightful for Benjamin - jumping in puddles of water or the frog.

We took Benjamin on a brief visit to the International Festival.

The theme was Ireland and our monkey enjoyed watching musicians and river dancers. We really enjoy being outside and like to people watch at festivals. We hope Benjamin will continue to enjoy these excursions with us.

Benjamin enjoyed Earth Day outside at Hermann Park with his buddies Kai and Charlotte.

They rode the train, had a picnic, and enjoyed the little park lakes, among other interests. They all are around the same age so they have the same attention spans and similar temperaments therefore we were all in good company.

Benjamin continues to use sign language for "more", and "food" although he can say both. We think it gives him a familiar comfort to his ever changing world. He is processing so much information and learning many new words that he feels "safe" using old habits.

Speaking of habits - we are entering a world with a new "habit". We purchased a toilet seat for little B's recent curiosity in potty-training. He is NO where near close to being potty trained; however, he does have lots of training books, gets to flush the toilet, and he will occasionally sit on the toilet for a few seconds. We know he has control over his bodily functions because he thinks it is quite comical to pee while standing up in the bath tub. What a long process this potty-training experience will be...this will be far from the last time we discuss this topic...so get ready for more.

More Words:

Truck: "Tuck"
Fish: "Fis"
Thank you: "Tank Ooo"
Boots: "Boots"
Shoes: "Shoes"
Books: "Bookths"
Car: "Cawww"
Door: "Doar"

His favorite repeat words are bus, truck, and boo-boo. He finally has slowed down on the bus word and has moved onto truck, truck, truck. We really cannot even properly convey how many times he would say bus in one day (imagine putting the word bus on repeat for hours). We will mention for the umpteenth time - He HEARTS trucks. Oh, and he knows that boo boos get lots of attention, kisses, and Cars brand band-aids so he reminds us often that he has a boo boo. Just in case - we might forget.

Life with Benjamin continues to be interesting.

Till next week!
