Keeping Up One Day at a Time.

Well, let's see what has happened lately?

We found a watch in the refrigerator door – wonder who put that thing in there?

Benjamin says light and points to it – often. When we say often – we mean ALL the time. He is proud of his ability to communicate light to us. Light sounds like “igh”. He also says “duh” for dog and when he sees his Papi he says da da...da da....(with a big smile).

We have been looking for the remote control for going on three days. Wonder where it could have gone?

Our monkey climbs on the couch, stands on it, risks falling, and gives his parents a near heart attack. The look on our "get down" faces makes him laugh (even though we are disciplining – he just thinks our stern voices are comical). This is where the grandparents should sit back and bask in sweet redemption because payback time is here. All those times they told us, “no” and we didn't listen are coming back to haunt us.

2nd week of swimming lessons makes our fish monkey more adventurous. He did such a great job this week. He had a "private" lesson (the other student did not make it to the lesson) so he had more attention. He still defies floating on his back but that will be a hard habit to break because he hates being on his back. He did great holding on to the side of the pool and “walking” the edge of the pool. He did better about drinking the water. He went under water a few times and had fewer coughing and sneezing bouts because he was more acclimated to the water.

So, we went to a resort in the tropical beaches of the Bahamas....just kidding....our friend's backyard is very tropical with plush plants, a serene waterful, and a kid-friendly pool. Benjamin practiced his swimming skills and soaked in the sounds of the waterful and enjoyed floating in a crab floatie.

A little karoake - he must get this from his Grandpa Guerrero.

Benjamin hung out with his buddy Evan at the Children's Museum.

Talk about being in toddler heaven – wow that place was super cool. He had lots of places to exert all his energy - he climbed, he grabbed, he banged, he explored with no limits.

The museum has a "little Mexico" exhibit for the kids to play in and on - Ben climbed in a VW bus and played in the tortilleria and the mercado.

Ben has a new toy (thanks to his “Aunt” Janis). He loves to hold his retro chatter telephone to his ear and gibber jabber. It's funny how quickly tots pick up on these rituals. The cordless, wireless, digital phone we have looks no where near like the retro toy, but he knows how it works.

We hope you all enjoyed the Labor day weekend by doing just the opposite – NO labor! And, we are thankful the tropical storm/hurricane Gustav did not make it's way here to Houston; however we do feel for those who have suffered its wrath.

Benjamin spent his Labor day with his parents, along with Uncle Mike and Cousin Lillian at the Discovery Green park.

Lillian had the ultimate look of pure joy on her face - she had a fantastic time walking through the water jets.
What was really special about this trip was the fact that a Houston firetruck and the firemen parked near the park for the children to enjoy/explore.

Benjamin is 14-months old today. How time flies....

Till next week.
