Time flies truly sums up our two-week trip in London, England. We did so much in such a small amount of time and it was truly an experience to remember. Unfortunately for Benjamin, he will not remember it, but we will have the photos and stories to show/tell him. Since this blog is mainly about our little monkey, Benjamin - we are going to focus mostly on that aspect of our trip.
Things we learned about London: For the most part, it was very kid friendly. We stumbled upon playgrounds more times than we expected. We did not have to search too hard for child friendly restaurants (one restaurant actually had a place to station strollers - or buggies as they were called).
Part of our itinerary included the London Zoo, Abbey Road, Buckingham Palace and the changing of the guards, Princess Diana Memorial Playground with the Peter Pan theme which included a pirate ship, and a viewing of the statute of Peter Pan.
Benjamin fell in love with trains. The love existed before the trip, but the trip intensified his love even more. We traveled a lot on trains, so it certainly was the highlight of his day. We have officially moved into the Thomas the Train phase of toddler-hood.
The hardest parts of our trip:
A 10-hour flight with a 2-year old feels magically like 15 hours. Mami almost equates this experience with giving birth. A very daunting and mentally draining experience. 2-year olds sit as still as hurricane on a hot summer day. The movie Cars, gummy worms, and nap time were and continue to be our saving grace.
The 6-hour time difference (in the future) really took us for a loop and gave us some extreme jet lag but we were back on schedule after a few days.
The best part of our trip: The ability to walk outside without heat and humidity. The parks were incredible.
We took over 400 photographs of our 2-week excursion, but for simplicity and sanity, we chose a handful for your viewing pleasure.
Playing by the ocean in Brighton.
Mami's boys playing in the streets of Little Venice.
Bouncing at the zoo.
Our little heartbreaker found a friend to chase near a very historical landmark.
Running on the grounds of Westminister Abbey.
What would happen after a day of heavy tourism.
Riding a double decker bus while holding a double decker bus.
This is how we roll across Abbey Road with a sleeping baby.
Peter Pan statute fun.
Trying to break into Buckingham Palace after the Changing of the Guards.
Waiting for the train (the highlight of his day).
Dealing with jet lag and sleeping most of the day..passing by the Lord's Cricket Grounds.
On unrelated vacation news - cute word mix-up as of late:
Mami/Papi, "help you". (real intention: "help me").
Back to life and back to reality in upcoming blog posts. Till next week.
