Cinco de Mayo, Art Car Parade, Food, and Family

Like Papi, Like Hijo.

Our week was busy with life celebrations.

We ate at the original Ninfa's on Navigation for some greasy grub on Cinco de Mayo. Like we need an excuse to eat Mexican food?
Little B. was excited to get some dough from the tortilla lady so he could play with it.

More potty training talk:

B. tells us when he has done the deed so that he can run to the potty. If he only knew you have to run to the potty first. Alas, we are VERY proud of him.

He likes to sit on the pot, read, and take his time and we sit with him in the bathroom and patiently wait and wait....

Haircut:

Benjamin had about 2-3 inches cut off his hair. When we first arrived at the salon, he bolted for the door and tried to turn the doorknob with no luck. Perhaps he thought he was in a doctor’s office; however, once he figured out he was only getting a haircut, then he was on board for the experience. He was very patient and still during the process. Having a 1-year old sit still for a haircut is short of a miracle, because normally 1-year old's do not come with patience.

Art Car Parade: One of our very favorite reasons for living in Houston!

Benjamin attended his 2nd Art Car Parade and this time he really enjoyed it. (Last time, he was only 10 months old and not quite the interested monkey he is today).

Not only did he get to see the parade but he also got to hang out with his cousins Keith and Nicholas. They were the best at watching Benjamin, showing him how to play, and loving on him. Ben's favorite art cars were anything that resembled a truck or a bus.

Kinky, the Grand Marshall:

Nick and Benjamin

Riding on a boat.

Hanging on top of a van.

Watching the excitement drive by in our nice shady, comfortable spot.

If only we could have gotten a photo of the driver of this vehicle. He had his pants down - very clever!

The Gonzalez family watching the crazy parade.

Nothing like a pair of pink bunny slippers driving by...

We had a nearby neighbor who had a few art cars parked in his yard so we walked over to see them up close. We later learned that this amazing brass contraption won one of the 3 categories for first place.

Nothing like taking a little bit of music on a road trip...

Benjamin's latest and newest outdoor hobby:

We tried a relatively "new" pizza place called Late Nite Pie:

And, well, the MAIN reason we like the pizza joint:

It's a laid back dive with tasty pizza and not very crowded...just our speed.

Playing pool with Papi:

And, well, the pizza isn't that bad, either...

(Although, the excitement of playing trumped eating, we will not hesitate to return this wonderful playground of fun).

We hope you enjoyed our week of festivities...Till next week.

Had a great weekend Sarah! T: We got the chairs at Target last year and we LOVE them. The pizza place is sorta in mid-town - near Tuam and Bagby.
